Knowing is better than feeling

Did you know that knowing/know is mentioned in the Bible 775 times ( in KJV MRS.A) and feeling/feel is only mentioned 9 times. In these songs that are mentioned below in a past post (rebirthing and better than drugs) it talks about feelings and not knowing that God is your presence. They are writing about feelings and not knowing. When we know that God is on our presences it gives us greater foy than just feeling that he is there. And when we feel it its not as convicting because we think oh we can do what ever we want but when we realize that we know that he is there it convicts us more not to sin than just oh i feel him right now but in five minutes i wont. So yeah i got four Bible lessons today. CJ

How much sweeter and satisfying it is to depend on the unchanging, unfailing promises of God's Word that were written that we may know that we have eternal life, and that we may believe on the Son of God (1 John 5:13), than it is to depend on our changeable, inconsistent, still-housed-in-our-mortal-and-sin-natured flesh, unreliable feelings.

The first gives us assurance of who God is and what he has done on our behalf. The second is easily influenced by and deceived by the fiery darts and lies of Satan.

Consider the following song as a contrast to much of what is offered by today's Christian "entertainment":

I Know Whom I Have Believed
James McGranahan

I know not why God's wondrous grace
To me He hath made known,
Nor why, unworthy, Christ in love
Redeemed me for His own.

I know not how this saving faith
To me He did impart,
Nor how believing in His Word
Wrought peace within my heart.

I know not how the Spirit moves,
Convincing us of sin,
Revealing Jesus through the Word,
Creating faith in Him.

I know not when my Lord may come,
At night or noonday fair,
Nor if I walk the vale with Him,
Or meet Him in the air.

Refrain:
But I know Whom I have believed,
And am persuaded that He is able
To keep that which I've committed
Unto Him against that day.
